Where We Meet

The choir was formed in 1957 by a group of choristers from Silverdale Methodist Chapel.
They called themselves the Daleian Singers, a name chosen to reflect the geographical connection of this North Staffordshire Male Voice Choir.

Over the years the Daleians have built up an enviable reputation as formidable competitors in the festival arena. Daleian successes include wins at Blackpool, Bourneville, Buxton, Southport, Tamworth, Pontrhydfendigaid and Minsterley (3 in succession).

Despite many festival successes, the Daleians regard themselves primarily as entertainers and although much in demand "at home"
they have given concerts as far a field as "The Lakes", Cornwall, as well as in Yorkshire and Lancashire
and a celebrity concert on Llandudno Pier. In addition the choir have given a number of performances in support of local and national charities.

During 2004 we enjoyed the May bank holiday in the "Land of Song", sharing a concert with the RAF St Athan Voluntary Band.

For the May bank holiday 2005 we enjoyed a visit into the Kent countryside, singing at Shorne Village Hall and Gravesend Methodist Church.
During our time there we also took time out to sail up the River Thames from Greenwich to the London Eye, where the choir sang in one of the pods as we viewed the expanse of the capital city below us.

During 2007 we celebrated our Golden Jubilee year.

Our Celebration Concert at the Victoria Hall, Hanley was a sell-out success as we recounted in song the past 50 years.
Tenor Alfie Boe our guest for the evening proving to be an instant hit.

During the early part of 2008, our concert with Rhos Orpheus Male Voice Choir,  at Longton Methodist Central Hall,
was an overwhelming success enjoyed by not only our audience but by both choirs.

Our visit to Great Yarmouth during 2008, was a resounding success with the choir helping to raise £1000 for All Hallows Hospital.

It was our pleasure to be involved with the opening and dedication of a new shelter and garden
at Silverdale Cemetery at the end of November 2008

Early in March 2009 we joined again with the Rhos Orpheus male voice choir.
Raising funds for Butterton Church. Take a look at us on YouTube go to Choir Stats.

Of note also was our concert at the Westminster Theatre at Keele University to raise funds for the Rotary Club of Newcastle under Lyme in support of Eradicating Polio, over £1400 being raised.

July saw us in the "Land of Song", where we joined Colwyn Male Voice Choir,
in raising £500 for the Gurka Trust.

On Sunday 23rd August the choir gave an open air concert on the Bandstand, Victoria Park, Stafford.
About 200 people coming by, stopping and listening in the sunshine. For many it was a first time occasion listening to a Male Voice Choir.

It was a privilege on Sunday 8th November 2009 to be asked to take part in an act
of Remembrance, entitled
"Lest we Forget",  along with North Staffs Symphony Orchestra,
Ceramic City Choir and our Hosts,  the
Porthill Players
at the Victoria Hall, Hanley.

The 2009 Christmas concert with Seabridge Primary School proved to be a resounding
success in a packed St Giles Church

On March 15th 2010, our show at the New Victoria Theatre with
St Margaret's C of E Junior School Choir was an outstanding success. A full Theatre was treated to superb performances from the children and a very varied programme from the choir.

During 2009 the choir gave over £1600 to various charities in North Staffs,
and were involved in helping the Rotary Club of Newcastle under Lyme raise over £1400 in their appeal "Thanks for Life. End Polio Now"

Our May Bank Holiday Concerts at Romsey Abbey and Whitchurch Church in Hampshire
were resounding successes. The choir enjoying the chance to demonstrate the variety and
high standard of Male Voice Singing that our choir is renowned for.

In the early days, BBC Radio Stoke signed off their evening programme with a musical recording by the Daleians.
The Choir also features on a special BBC recording of "Songs of Praise", produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BBC.

Our latest CD entitled "Pure Gold" has just been released and recounts in song the tunes sung by the choir over the past 50 years.
